Just when Amazon’s new payment service was starting to catch on for us, they decide to cut us off. They recently updated their policies to prohibit services that dealt with “travel-related” or “tour operator” services. Somehow, we fall into that category, so we got put on the DENIED list.
Paypal still works fine for most people. I’ll continue to seek out efficient and competitive payment services for our sailing trips. Thanks for everyone’s understanding and sorry for any inconvenience because of this development.
Here’s a fun clip complimenting Yeoman Amy’s entertaining report of Andiamo’s first trip of 2010, with the feared but respected Andiamo Navy Crew! Big thanks to Master-at-Arms Steve and Mess Specialist Monireh (aka “Mama”) for sharing, and big thanks to Amy for getting it on YouTube.
Amy, a guest on the first trip of the year, which earned the dubious title of “The Andiamo Navy Cruise”, submitted this account of the voyage as per her duties as ship’s yeoman for the tour. I appreciate her contribution to the ship’s log.
The first sail of 2010 began on January 2 with a lively international crew of exuberant strangers.
Master at Arms Steve commandeered the Andiamo Navy in short shift, nostalgically recalling his early 1980s Naval tour with Captain Tony, a fellow Naval vet. Being back on ship after 26 years roused some powerful memories and Steve stepped right back into character, assigning naval titles to all and issuing demerits for infractions like spilling drinks and falling off the boat. I met Alicia via Twitter a few months back. We fast became fans of each other’s blog. She’s an American chica from DC, who was adopted at birth. Born in Colombia, and knowing next to nothing about her birth mother or the circumstances of her being given up, she decided to go search for her birth mother. Continue reading →
Due to some new increases in Kuna taxes and fees which are entirely beyond my control, I need to raise our standard rates for all trips as of February 1st. The increase reflects an approximate 10% hike in costs put in place in recent weeks. The new rates are now posted on the San Blas Sailing Trips Section. I am no less committed to keeping the costs as low as possible. I’ll assure that it remains accessible to as many visitors as possible. Thanks for everyone’s understanding!
That day of the year again, five years since losing Pop. And it still can hit like a brick. Oddly enough, the discussions onboard lately have revolved around cigars. Most appropriate, at least to me, considering how cigars are so connected to my memories of Pop.
I thought that now would be a good time as ever to pull this piece I posted 2 years ago today out of archives. Fits the moment better than anythiing I can write from scratch at this particular time.
Mauricio and Fernanda, a very cool couple from Sao Paulo, Brazil, sailed on Andiamo earlier this monh. They were eager participants in what was to be coined the ‘Navy Cruise’, you’ll have to wait for that story.
Anyway, they put together a nice clip of their time in Panama and Andiamo, so I thought I’d just post it up! Thanks Mau and Fer, and see you in Brazil soon! Ta-logo!
