Andiamo! Rotating Header Image

November, 2004:

Love’s Labour Lost.

I know that it’s been a long while since posting to the site, but this has been a very hard past few weeks. Painfully, things have really come apart between Mahi and me. Without going into much detail, there was an unfortunate chain of events while I was away in LA, which ended up taking a huge toll. Mahi has left Andiamo, and I have been left with the horrendous task of picking up the pieces of what was supposed to be the realization of a life’s dream at what was to be the happiest time of our lives.

Needless to say, it’s been quite hard. I have been in a zone of sadness, anger, disbelief, and despair. Just when I thought that the hard part of life was for the most part over, after years of hard work, sweat and turmoil, I felt like the world had collapsed from under me. I have absolutely no idea what the future will bring. At this point, however, I have to pick up where things have left off and continue on with Andiamo somehow. Mahi and I are communicating and keeping channels open, and all I can do is keep hope alive anyway I can that something positive can come from all that has happened. For me, it’s simply too early to tell what will happen next.

The only reason that I’m still somewhat intact through all that has happened is because of the love and care of my dearest friends and family. I was amazed at how so many of them came out of the woodwork to be there for me, anyway possible, and help see me through the darkest times. My sister Judy has been a tremendous help and has been there for me any way she can. I was moved and uplifted by the stunning show of love and support from my truest and dearest friends. All I can say is thank you all so much for being there and for continuing to be there. You guys saved me.

So, as of now, the plan is to leave Isla Mujeres early this week. There have been some issues with my outboard that I really need to get sussed out before heading out. Should have all resolved within the next day or two. I have been lucky enough to line up new crew (currently Raf, a sharp guy from Belgium), and head onward towards Belize. The overall plan for the moment is to get Andiamo through the Panama Canal, and then up the Pacific Coast of Central America and Mexico toward California. After that, if I make it that far, it’s really anyone’s guess.

Stay tuned.
