This gave us the best 2 days of sailing so far since starting this trip. The first night out, we averaged 7-8 knots in 20-25 knot winds from the North with just the genoa. Then on the next day after leaving Lighthouse Reef for Placentia, we blasted past 10 knots many times in 20+ winds just off the nose from the Southeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of these pics are at Halfmoon Cay, where we anchored for the day when we got to Lighthouse Reef. There is an awesome bird sanctuary there. I&#8217;ve never seen so many huge and exotic birds in one place before. Very cool, and I&#8217;m not even a birdwatcher!<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theandiamo.com\/images\/belize\/BelizeLighthouseReefAnchorageBeach.JPG\" alt=\"us on the beach.\" title=\"This is us on the beach just after landing with the dink. \"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theandiamo.com\/images\/belize\/BelizeLighthouseReefHalfMoonCay.JPG\" alt=\"halfmoon cay's beach\" title=\"This is a shot of the south-facing beach on Halfmoon Cay. You can see both the old lighthouse tower and the new working one right behind it.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theandiamo.com\/images\/belize\/BelizeLighthouseReefHurricaneMitch.JPG\" alt=\"hurricane damage sign\" title=\"Much of Halfmoon Cay's coconut palms are disheveled or knocked down. This is due to Hurrican Mitch back in 1998, as explained by this sign.
