This is the new stuff…

Holes in the Foam…

Ok, so I know I’ve been saying for awhile now that I was planning on doing some serious writing. And needless to say, things have gotten in the way of that in recent times. Though I still am surprised at how much writing I’ve managed to get done despite it all. Now, in an effort to affirm my commitment to my latest vocation of becoming a desperate, hapless scribe, and to try to keep my other various projects and ventures from clouding my field of vision, I would like to introduce my newest blog ventur: “Holes in the Foam…” . (more…)

Hey! Check out my first non-Andiamo project! :)

Since handing the full-time reins of Andiamo to my hardy captain and crew, I of course have inherited much more time to try to take some of my kooky ideas from page to practice. Here’s the first hatchling… ๐Ÿ™‚

Being rather avid poker players (sometimes a bit TOO avid), Mitzy, my poker-partner-in-crime (and trip manager!) and I came up with the idea of Panama Poker Guide. I realized that while Panama has a rapidly growing poker scene, there was no real way to let the rest of the world know that. In fact, unless you’re IN Panama, there is almost NO way of knowing what’s going on at the poker rooms, the games, tournaments, etc. So…. we decided to make a resource that the entire global-poker-playing-public can tap into. Isn’t that nice? (more…)

Another great clip from Capt. Phil!

Click here to check out Phil’s latest clip via our Facebook Group! Some great underwater footage, and more excellent Kitecam footage under sail! Great job Phil! ๐Ÿ™‚

Good News! Carti Road Reopens!

Ok, first the good news:

The Carti Road is reopened as of Sunday the 27th of March to tourist traffic. For awhile there, we thought it was never going to happen. And it could not have happened a moment too soon.

Now for some not so good news:

The Kuna Congreso (their tribal government) has decided that tourist traffic in and out of Carti needed to be more “controlled” and regulated more than it had been prior to the atrocious rains and mudslides that forced the road to be closed back in December 2010. (more…)

Cool Kitecam Video by Capt. Phil Lambkin!

Capt. Phil has been experimenting with his cool new “Kitecam” lately for flight-worthiness. And lo and behold, here’s the first fruit of his labors! He shot a little “test flight” off Andiamo’s stern while at its mooring off Carti Yantupu. Check it out, and stay tuned for more awesome footage of Andiamo under sail via the Kitecam! ๐Ÿ™‚

New Andiamo Crew Section is now up!

Back in the ol’ days, Andiamo’s crew consisted of little more than yours truly, perhaps a cat or two, and/or the occasional girlfriend that would be willing to put up with both me and the “boat life” for more than say a few months. That was then, this is now. These days, Andiamo is manned by a highly diverse, professional, and personable crew. Though some of them have been working with and aboard Andiamo for the past few months, there hasn’t been much about them on the site. Until now…

I am happy to announce that I finally got a new section up that introduces the Andiamo crew and what they bring to the fold. Now, everyone will get to know a little more about our outstanding team before even setting foot aboard. This section is long overdue, and I’m sorry I didn’t get it together sooner!

Anyway, take a moment and meet the crew! ๐Ÿ™‚

Great Guest Video!

San Blas Islands, Panama from Scott Sporleder on Vimeo.

Scott Sporleder, a very keen photographer from Southern California, did a trip on Andiamo last January. He put up a very cool clip of some photos and video he shot, and was nice enough to share it. So check it out! Thanks Scott and great job! ๐Ÿ™‚
